Helping LEN Self Storage Offer Secure 24/7 Access

Project Overview

As more self-storage providers began offering customers 24/7 access, LEN Self Storage needed to provide the same level of convenience without compromising site security.

Previously, the entrance gates were closed after hours, which meant customers could only access the facility during staffed opening times.

CM Gates & Barriers was brought in to automate the existing gates and integrate them with LEN’s current BearBox access control system, allowing authorised customers to enter and leave the site at any time.

The Challenge

For a self-storage business, access is a key part of the customer experience.

LEN needed a system that would:

• Allow authorised customers to access the site 24/7.
• Work with the existing BearBox access control platform.
• Keep vehicle access secure outside staffed hours.
• Provide a reliable backup method of entry and exit.
• Include the necessary safety devices for automated operation.
• Remain straightforward for both customers and site staff to manage.

The solution also needed to support the business operationally, rather than introducing another separate system for staff to maintain.

Our Solution

We automated the existing entrance gates and integrated the new gate system directly with LEN’s BearBox access control.

This allows authorised customers to use their existing access credentials to operate the gates, creating a smoother experience without the need for an entirely separate access system.

We also installed keypads on both sides of the entrance as a backup access method, helping maintain reliable entry and exit if an alternative form of access is required.

The completed system included the appropriate safety devices and was fully commissioned and tested to ensure safe, reliable operation at all hours.

The Result

LEN Self Storage can now offer customers secure 24/7 access, helping the business remain competitive while improving convenience for existing and prospective customers.

The integrated system gives customers greater flexibility without creating unnecessary additional administration for the site team.

Following the success of the first installation, CM Gates & Barriers has since completed work at a second LEN site, with a third project currently in progress.

That continued relationship is perhaps the strongest result of the project: a solution that worked well enough to be repeated across multiple locations.
