Project Overview

As electric barriers age, they can become unreliable and prone to failure—particularly in high-traffic industrial environments. CM Gates & Barriers was initially called to one of Scotland’s most prominent breweries to replace two faulty barriers at the main HGV delivery entrance, where uninterrupted access was critical to daily operations.

Key Challenges

The site presented several operational challenges:

• High-frequency use by HGVs and staff vehicles
• The need to maintain safe and controlled access during works
• Ageing infrastructure affecting reliability and performance
• Ensuring any upgrades would deliver long-term durability

Our Solution

Following the successful replacement of the initial two barriers, the client was impressed with the quality of our work and invited us back to upgrade all remaining barriers across the site.

After a comprehensive site assessment, our team delivered:

• Replacement of six electric barriers with 4–6 metre barrier arms
• Full safety radar installations to protect vehicles and pedestrians
• Barrier base upgrades to improve structural integrity and long-term performance

All works were carefully planned to minimise disruption to site operations.

Each barrier was installed, commissioned, and tested in line with safety and operational requirements. By upgrading both the barrier systems and their foundations, the brewery now benefits from reliable, safe, and consistent access control across all entry points—supporting continuous operations in a demanding industrial environment.
