Project Overview

This project was slightly different, as CM Gates & Barriers was not involved during the initial planning stage. As part of a wider home renovation, the homeowner had independently purchased driveway gates and motors online, with the intention of having them installed once the renovation works were complete.

While the renovation progressed smoothly, the supplier was unable to provide installation support, prompting the client to contact our team.

Key Challenges

Following an on-site assessment, it became clear that the gates and automation supplied were not suitable for the driveway and pedestrian access configuration. Despite this, the client elected to proceed with the installation at that stage, which our team carried out professionally and to the best possible standard.

As anticipated, the system was later damaged during periods of strong wind — highlighting the limitations of the original design and specification.

After the failure of the initial system, the homeowner returned to us for a long-term, reliable solution. This time, we were able to design and install a system specifically engineered for the site conditions and local environment.

• A 4.3m bespoke aluminium gate designed to withstand Edinburgh’s weather conditions
• High-quality gate automation selected for smooth, reliable operation
• A full sliding gate safety system to ensure safe and compliant use
