This project was a bit different for us because CM Gates & Barriers wasn’t involved in the initial planning. Our client was renovating their home, including their driveway gates, and decided to purchase their own gates and motors online. While their home renovation was going smoothly, they soon realized that the seller couldn’t assist with installation.

That’s when they called us.

From the moment we saw the gates, we knew they weren’t suitable for their driveway and pedestrian entrance. After discussing the issue, the client chose to proceed with installation anyway, and our team handled the job professionally.

Not long after, we received another call—just as we had predicted, the gates had been damaged by strong winds. This time, they trusted us to provide a proper solution. Our team returned and replaced the gates with a brand-new, carefully designed system, ensuring both durability and reliability.

Glasgow Flats – Compliant Gate Replacement

Over the years, the residents of this beautiful flat complex in Glasgow had been dealing with unreliable electric gates. They often failed to respond and needed constant manual intervention.

When CM Gates & Barriers carried out a site survey, we were shocked to find that not only had the gate motor reached the end of its lifespan, but the original installation lacked essential safety features, proper geometry, and even basic cable management. Unfortunately, this is all too common in commercial properties, where some installers take advantage of clients’ limited knowledge of electric gates.

Quick Barrier Base Replacement in Glasgow

One day, we received a call from a site in Glasgow where a vehicle had collided with an existing FAAC barrier. After a thorough inspection, our team found that while the barrier’s mechanism and arm were still in perfect condition, the casing had taken the hit.

To save the client from the costly expense of replacing the entire barrier, one of our engineers promptly arrived on-site, removed the damaged case, and fitted a brand-new one. Thanks to this quick and efficient fix, the barrier was back up and running in no time—without the hefty price tag of a full replacement!

Multiple Barrier Replacements for a Scottish Brewery

As electric barriers age, they can become unreliable and prone to failure. CM Gates & Barriers was initially called in to replace two faulty barriers at the main truck delivery entrance of one of Scotland’s most prominent breweries.

Impressed by the quality of our work, the brewery invited us back to replace all remaining barriers across their various entry points, including those used by staff vehicles. Dundonald Golf Course – Electric Gate Installation

As part of a major transformation project at the exclusive Dundonald Golf Course—including redevelopment of the clubhouse and lodges—CM Gates & Barriers was selected to provide expert advice and installation for a new gate system to enhance security on the premises.

This project stood out due to the significant structural engineering challenges presented by the sandy terrain typical of golf courses. Collaborating closely with the renovation team, CM Gates designed, fabricated, and installed a custom gate that seamlessly complements the overall aesthetic of the new development, while meeting all security and safety standards with minimal excavation and groundwork.

Edinburgh Academy: Manual to Automatic Gate Replacement

Edinburgh Academy appointed our team to replace their manual driveway and pedestrian gates with fully automated systems. The project required extensive groundworks and bespoke gate fabrication, while integrating seamlessly with the school’s existing Paxton access control. Above all, the focus was on pupil safeguarding — ensuring the gates not only provided security and convenience, but also the highest levels of safety for pupils, staff, and visitors within the school grounds.
